8 pounds bone-in spiral-sliced half ham
2 tablespoons butter, melted
3 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon paprika
pinch of allspice
How to make Copycat HoneyBaked Ham
Step 1: If needed, trim the ham, then place it in a slow cooker. Pour over the ham the mixed melted butter and honey. Massage, making sure to get the melted butter and honey mixture in between each slice. Cover the slow cooker, set on low, and cook for 4 to 5 hours.
Step 2: Prepare the broiler at the end of the cooking time. Preheat it too high. With heavy-duty aluminium foil, line a roasting pan.
Step 3: In a small bowl, mix the sugar, seasoned salt, onion powder, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground ginger, ground cloves, paprika, and allspice. Over the top of the ham, pat half of the sugar mixture.
Step 4: Broil the ham for a couple of minutes until bubbly and caramelized.
Step 5: Add the rest of the sugar mixture to a small saucepan. Add in either 3 tbsp water or ham juices from the bottom of the slow cooker. Alternately, you can add water/ham juice and bourbon mixture. Stir well, then bring to a boil for about a minute. Remove from heat after.
Step 6: Over the ham, brush, or pour the glaze. Broil for another 1 to 2 minutes. Take out of the oven and allow the ham to rest for at least 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 7: Enjoy warm or cold.
Tips:
Cook in the Oven:
Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 275 degrees F. To the lower third position, adjust the oven rack. And with a long strip of heavy-duty foil, line a roasting pan or large dutch oven.
In the middle of the prepared pan, lay the ham flat.
Brush the ham with the honey/butter mixture, getting some in between each slice as much as possible.
Over the ham, bring the sides of the foil up, loosely covering the ham. Add a sheet of foil on top if needed.
Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 12 to 15 minutes per pound. For an 8 pound ham, the baking time will take about 1 hour to 30 to 40 minutes.
Proceed with steps 2 to 7.
