Chocolate Craving Cake

PREP TIME: 5 mins | COOK TIME: 40 mins | TOTAL TIME: 45 mins | SERVINGS: 9 SLICES

Satisfy your chocolate cravings with this decadent, rich cake. A no-fuss dessert that fits the bill.

INGREDIENTS

CAKE:

1 c (125 grams) all-purpose flour

1 c (200 grams) granulated sugar

1/2 c (63 grams) unsweetened cocoa powder

3/4 tsp baking powder

3/4 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 large Egg

1/2 c (100 grams) whole milk

1/4 c (55 grams) oil

2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 c (118 grams) warm water, can use coffee

FROSTING:

1 c milk chocolate chips

1/2 c sour cream

1/2 tsp vanilla

How to make Chocolate Craving Cake

TO MAKE THE CAKE:

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F.

Step 2: Use parchment paper to line an 8 x 8-inch glass or ceramic baking dish and grease the sides and bottom. Note: Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F if using a metal baking pan.

Step 3: In a bowl of a stand mixer, whisk the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 4: Add the egg into the bowl with the other ingredients followed by oil and vanilla. Beat on low until mixed, then, adjust the speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes more.

Step 5: Add in the warm water. Stir gently, this time the batter will be very thin.

Step 6: Transfer the batter into the prepared dish and place it inside the preheated oven. Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean.

Step 7: Allow the cake to cool for at least 10 minutes in the pan, then onto a cooling rack until room temperature.

TO MAKE THE FROSTING:

Step 8: Add the chocolate chips in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave in 30-second increments at 50% power. make sure to stir after each heating until fully melted.

Step 9: Add in the sour cream and vanilla and use a hand mixer to stir the frosting until well incorporated and fluffier.

Step 10: When done, spread the frosting over the cooled cake.
