1/2 c. onion, finely diced
1 clove garlic, minced
2 lbs of ground turkey (93% lean, 7% fat)
1/2 c. seasoned dry breadcrumbs
3/4 c. Heinz Hot and Spicy flavoured tomato ketchup, divided (or plain ketchup)
2 Eggs, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1 teaspoon dried marjoram
HOW TO MAKE THE BEST GROUND TURKEY MEATLOAF
Step 1: Saute the onion and garlic in a small nonstick skillet greased with cooking spray for about 5 minutes until the onion is tender. When done, set aside to cool. Then, prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Place the ground turkey, bread crumbs, half cup ketchup, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and marjoram, and the cooled onion/garlic mixture in a large bowl. Using your hand mix well until just combined, making sure not to over mix.
Step 3: Using cooking spray, grease a broiler pan top or 9 x 13-inch glass pan. Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan and shape it into a loaf. On top, spread the rest of the 1/4 cup ketchup. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 70 minutes, uncovered. You can baste the meatloaf with extra 1/4 cup ketchup if you prefer a thicker sauce in the last 10 minutes of cooking. When done, take the meatloaf out of the oven and cover with foil. Let the meatloaf rest for at least 10 to 15 minutes before slicing.
NOTE:
In place of the Heinz Hot and Spicy Tomato Ketchup, you can shake a few hot sauces to regular ketchup to still achieve the same flavour.
